OUR STORY

We have always believed in the power of images — and the deep emotions and memories they hold.

There’s an old belief in many cultures that a photo can capture and hold the soul. In Hawaiian tradition, that soul is called mana, and it represents the spiritual power that lives within people, places, and moments. Photographs allow us to preserve the fullness of a moment that might otherwise pass unnoticed.

We approach each image as a way to capture that spirit and tell the story of a moment. The quiet authority of a powerful keynote. The spark in a speaker’s eye. The satisfaction and peace of a shared sunset. The genuine connection between people. The joy of a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The collective energy of a team reaching new heights. The enormity of a moment where time stands still. The moment where nothing else matters.

Our work is about more than photographs, It’s about capturing the spirit of a moment.

THE DRAGONFLY — OUR GUIDING SYMBOL

Our dragonfly is a fusion of artistry and symbolism that reflects our roots — born in Hawai‘i, shaped by the visual traditions of Polynesian culture, and grounded in the belief that every visual carries its own storyline. It is our visual signature.

In many cultures, the dragonfly is seen as a messenger representing transformation, agility, precision, perspective, and clarity of vision. While not central in traditional Hawaiian or Polynesian mythology, the dragonfly (pīnao) symbolizes awareness and adaptability, dancing between light and shadow — a creature of both beauty and insight. Our dragonfly doesn’t just fly — it tells a story in itself. Etched into its wings are Polynesian tattoo motifs, each carefully chosen for their meaning and the story they tell:

  • Koru (Spiral): Growth, harmony, balance, and new beginnings

  • Mango (Shark Teeth): Protection, strength, resilience, and adaptability

  • Ocean (Wave): Life’s journey, movement, adaptability, and emotional depth

The dragonfly is more than a logo. It is a metaphor for how we work. Always in motion, moving gracefully and adapting effortlessly. With four wings that move independently, the dragonfly can hover, glide, dart, and even fly backwards. It navigates unpredictable skies with elegance and complete control.

Dragonflies have some of the highest observed hunting success rates of any animal, with estimates often around 95–97% of prey captures when they pursue it. This is far higher than most other predators in the animal kingdom. Their compound eyes contain up to ~30,000 facets, giving them nearly 360° vision and the ability to detect even slight movement. Dragonflies process visual information much faster than humans — up to several times per second — allowing them to track and intercept prey mid‑air with remarkable precision. Dragonflies don’t simply chase prey — they calculate where the prey will be and intercept it. In essence, they would make the perfect photographer!

Like the dragonfly, we move with intention and responsiveness, capturing fleeting moments with precision and grace. We observe not just what’s obvious, but also what’s unfolding in the periphery and adapt as they happen — moments of authenticity, insight, and human connection.
